Celebra hoy la Iglesia a santa Teresa del Ni\u00f1o Jes\u00fas, como ella quiso llamarse. Nacida en Alen\u00e7on (Normand\u00eda-Francia) en el a\u00f1o 1873, entr\u00f3 en el Carmelo de Lisieux a los quince a\u00f1os y donde muri\u00f3 el 30 de septiembre de 1897, a los 24 a\u00f1os. En su autobiograf\u00eda, Historia de un alma, ha dejado el testimonio espiritual de su vida de fe y abandono en Dios Padre en medio de pruebas y sufrimientos: \u00abHe hallado mi propio lugar en la Iglesia \u2013escribi\u00f3\u2013; en el coraz\u00f3n de la Iglesia, mi madre, yo ser\u00e9 el amor\u00bb. Se ofreci\u00f3 a s\u00ed misma como \u00abv\u00edctima al Amor misericordioso de Dios\u00bb. El papa P\u00edo XI, que la canoniz\u00f3 en 1925, la declar\u00f3 tambi\u00e9n Patrona de las Misiones Cat\u00f3licas.
