Sin embargo, en 1873, cinco a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de la Restauraci\u00f3n Meiji, Jap\u00f3n adopt\u00f3 el calendario gregoriano y el primer d\u00eda de enero se convirti\u00f3 y contin\u00faa siendo el D\u00eda de A\u00f1o Nuevo oficial y cultural en el Jap\u00f3n moderno.<\/p>\n<p>Al igual que la Navidad para los cristianos, Gantan Sai se ha convertido en una fiesta nacional en Jap\u00f3n y se expandi\u00f3 m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las pr\u00e1cticas religiosas sinto\u00edstas.
